A small calendar

Six small events through the year, with tea afterwards.

We do not run conferences. We do not run galas. But a few times a year the parish gathers for a walk, a service, or an open day at the vestry, and a modest amount of money quietly changes hands.

The Witham Valley Grant Day & Open House

Our open house, held twice a year on the trustees' grant days. The vestry is open from ten in the morning, the trustees are around for a cup of tea and a conversation, the ledger is on the table for anyone who wants to look at it, and the four parishes are welcome to drop in. Booking is helpful but not required.

Spring · Witham Walk

The Spring Witham Walk

A four-mile walk from Bardney parish hall down to the bridge at Southrey and back along the river. Stewards at three points with tea. Sponsorship welcomed but not required. Dogs welcome on leads.

The summer trustees' grant day, opened to the four parishes as a small open house. Tea, biscuits, the ledger on the table, and an informal conversation about the work.

Autumn · Witham Walk

The Autumn Witham Walk

The autumn walk: a longer five-mile loop from the abbey ruins to Tupholme woods, returning through the lanes to the parish hall. Hot soup at the finish.

The Schools' Quiet Tea

Our small thank-you tea, held in turn at the two village primaries, where the trustees meet the staff over a Victoria sponge to talk about the year ahead. By invitation but visitors are welcome to call ahead.

The Kitchings Candlelight Carols

Sun · · 18.00–19.30 · St Lawrence's, Bardney

A small candlelight carol service in aid of the Quiet Door fund. Two readings, eight carols, mulled wine in the church porch afterwards. Free; collection at the door.

Winter · Annual meeting

The Annual Public Meeting

The trustees present the annual report for the previous year and answer questions from the parishes. The accounts are laid out for inspection. All welcome.
